The colour, the aroma, the depth — this is the saffron my grandmother used to bring back from Srinagar. Finding it again, decades later, felt like coming home.

We gifted SaffronRealm boxes to fifty of our most valued clients this Diwali. Three of them called personally to thank us. That has never happened before.

I have used saffron in my kitchen for over twenty years. This is the first I have tasted that lives up to the name Kashmiri Mongra. Worth every rupee.

My morning kahwa ritual changed the day this arrived. The threads release a gold that feels almost ceremonial. SaffronRealm understood the assignment.

From Heritage to Ritual

From the Valleys of Kashmir

For three centuries, families in the high valleys of Pampore have cultivated the world's rarest saffron. We work directly with them — never through middlemen, never through markets.

Grade A+ Mongra. Always.

ISO 3632 certified. Hand-harvested before sunrise. Sealed inglass — never plastic. Every batch tested for crocin, picrocrocin and safranal. Nothing else touches what nature perfected.

A Daily Practice

Four threads. Warm milk. Fifteen minutes of stillness. The ritual that warmed Mughal courts now belongs to you. Slow luxury, brewed by patience.

Why SaffronRealm?

A house dedicated to one ingredient

We do not sell saffron. We honour it.

Every thread is hand-harvested before sunrise in the valleys of Kashmir, lab-tested to ISO 3632 Category I standards, and sealed in glass at peak potency. No middlemen. No fillers. No compromise.

For us, this is not a product. This is a practice three thousand years old, sealed for the world we live in now.

Before you buy

The questions we are asked most often about Kashmiri saffron.

Test it. Drop a few threads into room-temperature water and wait ten minutes. Real saffron releases colour slowly and turns the water a clear golden-yellow while the threads stay red. Dyed substitutes bleed orange or red almost immediately and go pale.

Mongra is the pure red stigma with the pale style removed. Lacha is the same harvest with the style still attached, so part of every gram is stalk that contributes very little. Both are genuine Kashmiri saffron, but they are not equivalent per gram. We sell Mongra only.

Less than most people think. Four to six threads make a cup of kesar milk; fifteen to twenty cover a biryani for four to six. Crush them lightly and steep in warm milk for twenty minutes first — blooming matters more than quantity.

In the sealed glass jar it arrives in, away from light and heat. Do not refrigerate: condensation does more damage than time. Stored properly it holds its aroma for two to three years.
